I Remember a Time When No One Jogged in This Neighbourhood

Jenny Cartwright

"I remember a time when no one jogged in this neighborhood" is an impressionistic film on the border of ethnographic documentary and cinematographic essay. It presents Montreal's most densely populated neighbourhood, Parc-Extension, and, above all, the people who live there in a series of intimate and contemplative tableaux.

The work also takes a critical look at the trajectory of the neighborhood as the foundations of a ruthless gentrification threaten the social fabric of the area. What impact will the construction of the new Université de Montréal campus, as large as 38 soccer fields, have on this landlocked neighborhood and its predominantly immigrant population?
