Writing With Fire

Khabar Lahariya is a unique Indian news source. With smart phones in hand, these determined journalists confront the traditions of traditional media, tackling the hottest topics in Indian news while reworking their own identity as Dalits.

SYNOPSIS

In the midst of a male-dominated system, Khabar Lahariya remains a unique Indian news source. With smart phones in hand, chief reporter Meera and her team of determined women confront the traditions of the mainstream media, tackling the hottest topics in Indian news while reworking their own identities as Dalits (women considered out of caste). Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh, winners of two awards at the last Sundance Film Festival, deliver a necessary and absolutely inspiring portrait of women claiming their own power, one story at a time.
