Seuls

Every year, more than 400 children arrive alone at the Canadian border to claim refugee status. Fearing for their lives, Afshin, Alain and Patricia left their country, without their parents, when they were just children, with the hope of a better life in Canada.

SYNOPSIS

Every year, more than 400 children arrive alone at the Canadian border to claim refugee status. Fearing for their lives, Afshin, Alain and Patricia left their country without their parents. All three began a journey that would lead them, after several months of uncertainty, to Canada: Afshin left Iran in 1986, Alain left Burundi in 2009 and Patricia left Uganda in 2019. Mixing live action and animation, "Seuls" bears the imprint of hope: how does a child manage to rebuild himself or herself in a new country, when he or she has left everything behind, even his or her parents?
