Seuls

Every year, over 400 children arrive alone at the Canadian border to claim refugee status. Fearing for their lives, Afshin, Alain and Patricia left their country, without their parents, when they were just children, in the hope of a better life in Canada.

SYNOPSIS

Every year in Canada, over 400 children arrive alone at the border to seek asylum. Scared for their lives, Afshin, Alain and Patricia left their home countries without their parents. All three of them set off on a difficult journey that led them to Canada, after months of uncertainty: Afshin left Iran 35 years ago, Alain fled Burundi 15 years ago and Patricia ran away from Uganda in 2019.

Mixing real-life footage and animated sequences, Alone is a tribute to hope: how can a child manage to reinvent himself in a new country, after having left everything behind, even his parents?
