SYNOPSIS

In his first film, Little Palestine, Diary of a Siege, filmmaker Abdallah Al-Khatib offers a glimpse into the daily lives of the inhabitants of Yarmouk, the largest Palestinian refugee camp in the world. Home to thousands of Palestinians, Yarmouk was seized in 2015 by the Islamic State/Daech in alliance with al-Nosra. Syrian government forces retaliated to the siege by bombing the camp, causing an outcry over the loss of civilian life and destruction of the refugee camp. Yarmouk was cut off from electricity, leaving the Palestinian refugees even more vulnerable and under siege. With the help of his friends, Al-Khatib depicts the ordinary lives of Yarmouk's inhabitants in the years leading up to the siege, as they persevere with dignity, love and hope in the midst of an endless state of war.
