SYNOPSIS

Hidden in the heart of the Bic Mountains, in this territory called the Bas-du-Fleuve, is a community of spirits, daring spirits that take root. This "Sageterre" is the work of Jean Bédard, writer, philosopher, social worker and above all a farmer. Through his writings, he makes action sprout. Through his gestures in the earth, he cultivates thought. He maintains his two farms. Jean Bédard fights against the sleepiness of the world.

Independent filmmaker, Nicolas Paquet directed his first feature-length documentary entitled La règle d'or in 2011. This was followed by the feature film "Ceux comme la terre" and the short film "Les sucriers", both of which were presented at numerous festivals in Canada and abroad. In 2017, he launched "Esprit de cantine", selected notably at the Rencontres internationales du documentaire. This film was shot in the village he lives in, Saint-Alexandre de Kamouraska. His most recent film, "Chef.fe.s de brousse", reveals the struggle of three chefs who propose an identity-based cuisine from the territory.
