Kim O'Bomsawin

Kim O’Bomsawin is an award-winning Abenaki documentary filmmaker and sociologist, driven by a deep desire to share the world of Indigenous Peoples. She has contributed to the development and production of numerous documentaries broadcast on various channels and platforms.

Her film Ce silence qui tue (This Silence That Kills) won the Donald Brittain Award for Best Social/Political Documentary Program at the 2019 Canadian Screen Awards. Her other notable works include Du teweikan à l’électro, which won a Gémeaux Award in 2019, and the feature documentary Je m’appelle humain (Call Me Human), which also received a Gémeaux in 2020.

Her series Laissez-nous raconter (Telling Our Story) was featured in TIFF’s Primetime program in 2023. As president of Terre Innue and Productions Innu Assi, she also gives talks on issues affecting Indigenous Peoples.
