Diego Briceño

Diego Briceño is a Colombian-Canadian media maker based in Montreal. He has over 20 years of experience as a producer, director and concept developer for social impact documentaries, fiction and interactive media. He holds a BFA in Film Production and a Graduate Certificate in Digital Technology and Artistic Design Practice from Concordia University. Driven by narrative strength, ethics and collaboration, his work often focuses on issues of marginalization, the environment and North-South relations. He has directed and produced eight documentary projects, including a television series and an interactive project, as well as a short fiction film, all of which have been broadcast on television or screened at national and international film festivals.
Through his company Cuiba Media, he specializes in the co-development of cross-media projects with strong international appeal. He is the co-founder of Makila, a non-profit media incubation cooperative, and the co-creator and lead developer of the Cuban Hat Project, a grassroots documentary release platform that has been featured at events such as Hot Docs (Toronto), IDFA (Amsterdam), RIDM (Montreal) and Sunny Side of the Docs (La Rochelle). He is also on the board of directors of the Alter-cine Foundation, which provides financial support to documentary filmmakers in the South. He is currently responsible for the equity and inclusion programs of the Canada Media Fund (CMF).
