ReXistence

Decades of archival footage reveal the persistence of systemic violence in Canada. By bringing this hidden history to light, reXistence raises awareness and fuels today’s struggles.

SYNOPSIS

A sensory dive into the suppressed history of Afrodescendant communities in Canada, reXistence revives fragments of erased collective memory. This historical portrait, woven exclusively from archival footage, unsettles through its raw visual poetry, paying tribute to the unalterable strength of those who resisted. In the face of institutional silence, the film stands as a political cry and challenges our relationship to justice. It compels us to see… and to look away no more. This is not the past. It is now.
