De l’ombre à la lumière takes viewers into the often unfamiliar world of Indigenous and non-Indigenous homelessness by following Martin Gunn in his daily life in Val-d’Or. At the Le Nomade and La Piaule shelters, the film highlights the important but often invisible work done by shelter staff and helps young people understand this real-life situation.

His first film, Les Vaillants, awarded at the Cinéma sous les étoiles festival, pays tribute to the tradition of coffin-making. Guided by his sensitivity, he explores themes of transmission and human connection in his second film, De l'ombre à la lumière.
