Filmed in cinéma vérité between 2011 and 2022, Afrikki recounts a decade of struggles within the African civic and artistic movements of the 2010s. Starting in Dakar and with the Y'en A Marre movement, with its rooftop and core group of Senegalese journalists and rappers, a generation finds its voice and organizes itself, guided by Frantz Fanon's idea that "each generation must, in relative obscurity, fulfill its mission or betray it." From the outset, and for an entire generation of young people based on their daily experiences, this collective inspires support and embodies their aspiration for a change of paradigms and imaginaries. On the scale of the African continent, Y’en a Marre inspired and then united a pan-African movement: Afrikki.
