SEE COMPLETE PROFILE

After a master's degree in mechanics and studies in the history of science at the EHESS, Zoulikha Tahar devotes herself, from 2015, to her passion for writing and video. In 2017 she co-founded, in Algeria, the AWAL collective with whom she directed The street: a clip against street harassment. She is presented, the same year, by France 24 as one of the five women who are most committed to change in Africa. In 2018, she began training in documentary film at the European Foundation for Image and Sound Professions (Fémis). There, she directed her first short documentary film, Une vie d'essais, a documentary on the representations made, on both sides of the Mediterranean, of Algerian immigrant women. The film was selected, in 2020, in the "Coup de Coeur" category of the Panorama Festival of Maghreb and Middle Eastern Cinema. In 2021, she directed L'hiver qui ne meurt jamais, a film that questions the impact of the health crisis on the borders. As well as, Kol Youm, a short documentary film on the mental burden. The latter won the public and jury prize for best documentary at the Franco-Arab film festival of Noisy-le-Sec. Zoulikha is also a slam artist. She has, since 2015, performed on several stages in Algeria, France but also in Belgium and Lebanon. Zoulikha is currently working on the writing of her next film as part of the Plan Libre-Orléans residency, as well as leading slam workshops with the Arab World Institute.
