In 2020, a bulk carrier ran aground off the coast of Mauritius, causing the region's worst ecological disaster. This short, hand-animated documentary bears witness to the impact of the event on local communities.
Kim Yip Tong
Kim graduated from the Royal College of Art’s School of Communication in Information Experience Design in 2017 and has been living in Mauritius since.
Her film Pie dan lo Black Tide has been screened in over 100 festivals around the world, including Annecy International Animation Festival, Tribeca Film, Clermont-Ferrand, Palm Spring and the Red Sea Film festival. Kim is a visiting lecturer at the University of Architecture ENSA Nantes Mauritius and Rubika Mauritius.
