Tuktuit : Caribou

An experimental documentary exploring the close and enduring connections between Inuit, caribou, lichens, and land use.

SYNOPSIS

This experimental documentary explores the close and enduring bonds between the Inuit, caribou, lichen, and the land. Used in the film-developing process, lichen helps bring the images to life, while caribou skin has been transformed into gelatin to create a handmade emulsion. The film was primarily shot in Nunavut, where the caribou struggles for survival despite wildfires, habitat disruption, and changing climate conditions.
