Call for short documentary films 2022

FRANÇAIS | ESPAÑOL

The Cinéma sous les étoiles by Funambules Médias is launching its call for short documentaries for the 13th edition of its festival. The registration period is open from December 15 2021 to February 15, 2022 at midnight. You can submit your films for free.

THE BALANCE BETWEEN ART AND SOCIAL COMMITMENT

The Cinéma sous les étoiles by Funambules Médias is an outdoor cinema event whose mission is to promote documentary cinema dealing with current social and political issues, as well as the development of critical thinking through lively discussions around the works and the issues addressed. More than just screenings, our platform is intended to be a space for discovery, reflection and discussion on the issues of the day affecting our society. Since 2020 the Cinema under the Stars has been online to allow the greatest number of people to have access to the cinematographic content that we offer.

Following our previous editions, we are looking for documentary works of a resolutely social and political nature, which address the major themes of the festival, namely: environment, democracy, colonialism, society and economy. We will favor films that are critical of national and international political issues, and focused on social justice and inclusion. In addition to seeking a strong author’s point of view, we will pay particular attention to the aesthetic quality of the documentaries submitted, with a concern for a balance between art and social engagement.

Our programming committee will select 25 to 30 works that will be presented during the 2022 season of Cinéma sous les étoiles.

SIX AWARDS FOR THE SHORT FILMS

The short film programming will be divided into 3 categories: Québec programming, Canadian programming and International programming. Our independent jury, made up of a filmmaker, an intellectual and an activist will award five distinctions to the most outstanding works. The winners will be unveiled at a special evening of short films over the summer.
